ROSWELL, Ga. – Two new business-friendly hotels are springing up in Roswell less than a mile from one another on Westside Parkway.

Home 2 Suites by Hilton and Springhill Suites by Marriott have announced they are bringing their business class suite hotels to town.

The two hotels will add around $25 million to the tax digest. They join the 120-room boutique hotel planned for Magnolia Street in the Canton Street entertainment district.

“This is a big deal for the city of Roswell,” said Roswell Inc Executive Director Steve Stroud. “This will be a boost to our business and tourism communities.”

These three additions bring Roswell’s total number of hotels to 16.

Home 2 Suites’ site is 1.9 acres at 10990 Westside Parkway and Mansell Road. It will have five floors containing 106 rooms and 107 parking spaces.

The conditional use request for five stories was approved by the Roswell City Council on June 12.

Marriott’s Springhill Suites will rest on 3.3 acres at the corner of Westside Parkway and Old Roswell Road. It has 90 rooms with 90 parking spaces and spots for 12 bicycles.

Stroud said the new additions bear out Roswell Inc’s recent hotel study which indicated a need for more business-related hotel rooms.

Roswell Inc Director of Communications and Public Relations Carisa Turner said this confirms the findings of Roswell Inc’s recent hotel study conducted by Atlanta-based hospitality research firm The Highland Group.

Both hotel announcements come on the heels of that study’s release. Among the key findings was a strong demand for business-friendly hotel options in Roswell.

Stroud said the data from the study was a significant part of solidifying franchise agreements with both hotel groups.

“We know the need is out there. There is a strong demand among business travelers. And it has huge implications for our tourism,” Turner said.

Dotty Etris, executive director of the Roswell Convention and Visitors Bureau agreed.

“We are just thrilled to be getting two more hotels. This will help on several fronts. The business community needs the rooms, our tourism businesses need more rooms, and Roswell’s big wedding venues have been crying for more hotel rooms,” Etris said. “Weddings are a good chunk of our weekend business.”

That dovetails nicely with the business visitor who often is headed home on Friday Afternoon.

Roswell Inc has been involved with the property owners for both projects since the first stages of the planning process, Turner said.

“And we will continue to work as a liaison between the city, developers, hotel groups and the franchisees until the hotel grand openings,” she said. “We are also grateful to the city of Roswell’s Transportation and Community Development staff for their help in making these projects possible.”

Meanwhile the boutique hotel on Magnolia Street received its final approval from the Roswell City Council for its project on the corner of Magnolia Street and Mimosa Boulevard, in the heart of the Historic District.

In addition to the 120-room hotel, it will serve as a mixed-use building on 2.32 acres that includes a public garden, event space and chef-driven restaurant.
