ROSWELL, Ga. — Roswell Inc is helping usher in the summer with their second annual Summer Sippin’ celebration. Like its sister event, Restaurant Week in the winter, Summer Sippin’ showcases the best that local restaurants have to offer.

Unlike Restaurant Week, however, Summer Sippin’ focuses on unique cocktails and drinks instead of food. There are non-alcoholic options available.

“This event is a fun way to celebrate and promote our city’s restaurant industry, which is a huge economic driver for Roswell,” said Steve Stroud, executive director of Roswell Inc. “By encouraging the restaurants to create new, innovative drinks and inviting guests into those establishments to try them, we hope to build upon the growing excitement about what’s happening in the food and beverage scene in our city.”

Throughout June and July, visitors can enjoy specialty drinks with summer-inspired flavors only available during this season.

Non-alcoholic options will range everywhere from specialty iced coffees to juice blends and smoothies using seasonal fruits and vegetables. Some restaurants will also be serving non-alcoholic versions of their alcoholic drinks.

“Food is, of course, the main focus of Roswell Restaurant Week,” said Carisa Turner, communications and public relations director for Roswell Inc. “So with this sister event, we wanted to focus on beverages and cocktails - which also felt like a perfectly refreshing fit for the months of June and July.”

A total of 25 restaurants in and around Roswell’s Historic District are participating this year. Some of the restaurants include 1920 Tavern, The Big Ketch, El Porton, Kale Me Crazy, Pastis, PURE Taqueria and Spice of Thai.

“We received great feedback from both the participating restaurants and the community last year,” said Turner. “Our restaurants enjoyed the friendly competition with each other and the community enjoyed the chance to try out all the new drinks created by the restaurants for the event.”

New this year is the Summer Sippin’ App for both iPhone and Android devices. The app shows information about all of the sips and restaurants and provides a map of participating restaurants throughout the city. It also lets guests rate the drinks from their phones.

The drink with the highest overall rating at the end of the Summer Sippin’ will be crowned the “Best Sip in Roswell” for 2017.

The app is designed by Ringer Consulting Group, a Roswell-based digital solutions agency that specializes in customized website development, creative design, video production and databases.

This year’s Summer Sippin’ is sponsored by Gas South, New Kent Capital and Ringer Consulting Group.
